🔧 How to Become a Pipefitter in Canada

  1. Take a Pipefitting Program

    • Enroll at a trade school or vocational college.

    • You’ll learn:

      • Blueprint reading

      • Pipe system layout

      • Welding and cutting

      • Safety protocols

  2. Complete an Apprenticeship (4 years)

    • Do 8,280 hours of hands-on work and 720 hours of in-school training.

    • You'll learn everything from installation to repairs in live job settings.

  3. Write the Certification Exams

    • After completing all hours and training, write the Red Seal and Certificate of Qualification exams to become certified.

  4. Get Hired

    • Pipefitters are in demand in oil & gas, construction, utilities, and manufacturing.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Hard Hat (CSA-certified)

  • Safety Glasses or Goggles (impact + chemical protection)

  • Hearing Protection (earplugs or muffs)
